Gary ‘Dixie’ Carter
Inducted: 00/00/2007
It is with great pleasure that we announce the next nomination for the Emerald City Softball Hall of Fame, Gary Carter. I think Gary puts it best when he said, "I consider myself so very fortunate to have found my place in the ECSA. I am very fortunate to have been a part of the ECSA past and I look forward to seeing all that the ECSA will contribute to NAGAAA in the future."
The following is a brief summary of his years in gay softball:
- In 1995, joined the Emerald City Softball Association as a player in the C division
- Participated in the 1995 NAGAAA GSWS in Seattle
- Have participated in the ECSA every year since 1995 as a player, coach and/or Executive Board Member
- In 1997, helped form an A division team and participated as a player/coach
- In 1998, began playing with R Place as the title sponsor and that sponsorship has lasted and thrived for 9 consecutive seasons
- Served 6 years (3 terms) on the ECSA Executive Board as an Assistant Commissioner
- Have played and/or coached an A division team 8 times at the NAGAAA GSWS
- Played on the championship team at the 2002 Sydney Gay Games and played/coached the championship team at the 2006 Chicago Gay Games
- Played on the championship team 3 times at the Chicago Senior Cup and played/coached on the Seattle Hard Attacks that finished 2nd in the 2005 Senior Cup
- Currently serving on the NAGAAA Executive Board as the Business Development Director for the Open Division
In addition to these incredible accomplishments, Gary has been an inspiration to several new players to the league. He has also been a huge contributor to our league ensuring that Seattle had A and B division teams that competed both locally and nationally.
We have been very fortunate to have such a great man and leader in our midst.
