Dan Cross

DANIEL “DAN” CROSS

ECSA Hall of Fame Nomination

Dan Cross moved to Seattle originally from Maine and was introduced to softball in Spring 2000. During one of the first practices, he missed a ball and had a nice shiner to show for it. Although many guys would have quit after that, Dan stuck with it and continued to play, grow and progress. He moved to California for one season and played on one of the World Series teams. When he returned to Seattle he was eager to help the league develop into a great organization and threw in his hat for a Board Position for Secretary.

Since then he has been continuously involved with the Emerald City Softball Association and has worked tirelessly to help move the league forward. He played a pivot role during the bidding and ultimate staging of the 2008 World Series that was hosted here in Seattle. His ability to market the league and gain funding was amazing. Dan was diligent about contacting and delivering sponsors and their contributions to the World Series. Funding for this very special event was not an issue due to Dan’s hard work, dedication and willingness to go the extra mile.

To go along with his outstanding leadership role with the ECSA, Dan also has always maintained a sportsmanship attitude no matter how competitive the games may get (although his team will say he gets pretty vocal in the outfield). Dan shows that you can be competitive without being nasty, you can show passion without sacrificing integrity and you can still win with dignity even if the other team scored more points. He has set a great example of a manager who is organized and accountable to his team, the sponsor and the division.

Overall, Dan Cross is the perfect example of how anyone in this league can go from being a player that shows up every Sunday to play to becoming a member of an executive that that has grown leaps and bounds in part due to Dan’s diligent hard work and teammate attitude. He is an integral part of the league and a friend to all. Below is a summary of the accomplishments Dan has achieved so far in the ECSA:
