This year the Emerald City Softball Association will be hosting the Gay Softball World Series. It is an exciting time in the league and our competitive teams are hoping to obtain one of the coveted World Series berths from our league. Of the 30 teams in the Open division, 7 will get to play in the World Series representing the ECSA Open Division. The Knights, our "A" division team will also be representing the ECSA Open Division at the World Series. Good luck to all of the teams competing for a berth and to all who represent the ECSA Open Division at the World Series.
Please put the week of August 24 through the 30th on your schedule. Nearly 4000 athletes and fans from the United States and Canada will be descending on Seattle for the Gay Softball World Series. The World Series Committee could really use your help. 2 hours, half a day or a whole day would mean a lot to making this tournament a success. Send an email to volunteer@series2008.org and let them know you'd like to help.
I want to welcome and acknowledge the teams who play in our league for the enjoyment of being with and making friends. You are an important part of our league.
I joined the ECSA over 4 years ago with hope of making new friends and having some fun along the way. The ECSA is a great place for me. This league provides a place where different interests can meet and mingle in a positive environment.
The league would not function without our numerous volunteers. Thank you to all of the Coaches and Managers who do such a great job of organizing their teams. It takes a tremendous amount of time and effort. More recognition to come...
To our league and team sponsors, thank you for your generosity and partnership. Playing organized sports is an expensive proposition; you make it possible for so many to participate. Players and fans please remember who supports this league and support them.
My biggest THANK YOU is for the ECSA Open Division Board. There are many hours that go into operating this league. This group has made life very easy for me as the Commissioner. When you're at the field thank these guys, they do a lot for you. The ECSA Open Division Board is Josh Wojcik (secretary), Tom McDole (treasurer), Randy Robison (a/b asst. commissioner), Jeff Card (c asst. commissioner), Ryan De La Rosa (d asst. commissioner), Dan Cross (membership director), Mike Ridgeway (director of competition), Damon Schmidt (webmaster) and Frank Pichinini (tournament director). If I missed anyone I deeply apologize.
Before I close I would like to acknowledge the wonderful contributions made by my predecessor, Greg Bannish. I met Greg shortly after joining the league. He has become a great friend and has helped me so much during the transition. He truly left this league in great shape and has helped make 2008 another great year for the ECSA Open Division. Thanks Greg!
My goal for the next 2 years is to build upon the work of my predecessors and keep this league healthy and growing. I welcome constructive comments and the willingness to contribute to this league’s success.
Sincerely,
Brian Craft
ECSA Open Division Commissioner 2008-2009
