Team and Player of the Week
The B Division teams did not play last week.

Last week's C Division Team of the Week was the Woodpeckers.
"The Woodpeckers extended their winning streak to 6 games this Sunday by winning both of their games and allowing them to maintain on sole possession of 1st place in the C Division. They have beaten their opponents by more then 10 runs in each of their last four games - outscoring them an average of 13 runs a game. On the defense side they held those same 4 opponents to an average of 4 runs a game and they cntinue to be the best defensive team in the C Division giving up only 48 runs in 8 games - and average of 6 runs per game."

"Woodpeckers for their game against SIN where they came from behind to win."

Other C Division team nominations include Seawolves, Sin, and Toros.

Last week's C Division Player of the Week was Todd Bullock of Sin.
"I would like to nominate Todd Bullock for player of the week. Todd plays on The Sin, and was at Short Stop during their game last week vs. The Atomic. He never missed a ball, and never overthrew a ball, and he had lots of balls at him. He played so well at short that I cant even remember how he batted. " "Todd was an iron fence at short stop for both games against the Thruster and Woodpeckers. Every ball that was hit to him was an instant out. He proved that if you want to get on base, you better think about somewhere else to hit the ball. " "Todd was solid all day at SS scooping up everything that came his way and continued his hot hitting which included ripping a triple through the wind. Off the field he once again organized and played hostess for the Sin at our host bar night."

Other C Division player nominations included Kyle Montes and Darrell Hokuf.

The D Division Team of the Week was the Inferno.
"Won their first two games against two very good teams."

"If perseverance, optimism, determination and tons of team-spirit are the traits sought after as an ECSA model team, then The Inferno should be this week’s ECSA “Team of the Week.” Playing two tough games against tough opponents, The Inferno won their first two game of the 2010 season. While the season got off to a rough start for this team of mostly ECSA rookies, each player has continued to have a positive attitude and shown up to practices ready to hustle and work together to build a winning team. This week, the hard work paid off for The Inferno. Each game was won by a narrow margin and the opposing teams gave a great fight to the very end, but The Inferno was able to keep calm, put errors behind them and make critical plays as a team in order to make the win-less season a thing of the past. Much credit should be given to the team's coaches Jeff Keever, Tighe Copeland and Dave Hawkins, all of the SIN, for their patience and dedication to the team and to seeing each player improve during this season. BURN BABY BURN!!!"

"after being 0 in 4, this last weekend Inferno was on fire, winning both their games against the Stealth and Snap."

"Inferno came out very strong this week! They played two tough teams, and even though their pitching struggled, they managed to pull out two very tough wins against the SNAP and STEALTH. Their hitting was unstoppable, and they showed that they aren't a team to mow over, but a team to watch out for!"

"As a new team this year, Inferno has worked hard to learn the basic skills of the game, and build team unity. Yet at each game it seemed that the mental aspects of playing and being nervous presented us with challenges. Inferno's record going into the weekend was 0 - 4. But this weekend the Inferno pulled together, focused, played hard, and put everything learned into the game. Facing off against the Stealth and the Snap proved to be tough games, but the Inferno pulled off their first two wins this weekend! Great job for a new D Team!"

"The Inferno are a new team to the ECSA, made up mostly of players new to the ECSA, and many are TOTALLY new to softball--hence they have struggled initially (as new teams tend to do). They have started to put it together, and won both their games this weekend against 2 very good teams, the SNAP and the Stealth. Their hitting was extraordinary, as they scored a total of 35 runs in 2 games. Kudos to Inferno, and looking for more good things to come from this team! They may become yet another ECSA success story, stay tuned!"

There were no other D Division team nominations

Last week's D Division Player of the Week was Isaac Hayes of the Drillers.
"Isaak is in his first year and has shown great improvement and enthusiasm. He usually doesn't play Pitcher but this Sunday he was the only one who has practiced this postion and was utilized for the entire second game. Not only did he handle the pressure VERY well but he had fun and pitched amazingly. He mixed his pitches up and made the offense really work AND he made two great outs to first. He was as solid a pitcher as others who have played for many seasons!" "I would like to nominate Issak Hayes from the Drillers. He did an great job pitching his first full game against the Buzz. Normally Isaac plays one inning pitching then outfield the rest of the game. This time around he stepped it up and pitched an entire game. He stayed positive and in control every time he was on the mound. Great job Isaak, hope to see more of your pitching."
